What a wonderful start the Estate had to 2010. Some of our residents joined us for a New Year’s bash on the Bridge of the Heron Bridge Dam, and it was great fun. The Estate will be hosting several ‘themed’ events for our residents throughout the year. We are, in fact, in the process of establishing a beautiful rustic open-air picnic area on the Estate, for resident and Estate event use.
The Hulett Development Company (Pty) Ltd will be contributing R5 million towards the establishment of the Clubhouse on the Estate. A beautiful entertainment patio and outside facilities, which will include braai areas, lapas, and a tennis court and swimming pool in a pleasant lawned and ultimately shaded environment is planned.
We would like to congratulate Stedone Homes on the completion and handing over of their first building project on the Estate. With another building project currently underway and several in the pipeline, it is good to know that developers such as Stedone Homes are enjoying success and reaping the rewards of their hard labour on the Estate.
Forest Village situated on the Estate is a lifestyle village for active ‘retirees’ and is doing exceptionally well.

Architectural footprint engages with topography of the land |

The architecture of the Estate is the interpretation of a panel of some of South Africa’s leading architects - Kevin Lloyd (Umhlanga), MAB Architects (Durban), Whitehouse Designs(Kloof) and Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen (Cape Town). Their interpretation is inspired by the design philosophy of 20th century architectural icon Frank Lloyd Wright. This design philosophy ensures that each design will engage with the topography of the land which, in turn, will promote a symbiotic relationship between the architecture and its surroundings.

Over 3000 indigenous trees have been planted |

Since the inception of the Estate, we have planted over 3000 indigenous trees and we are in the process of replacing the dead trees on the Estate from our own nursery. Our nursery currently has more than 3000 indigenous trees, which include Natal Mahogany, Tree fuschia, River Bushwillow, Yellowwood and Waterberry.

Wetland water table now raised to cover entire valley |

With all the rain the North Coast has enjoyed during December, the water table in the wetland has been raised to now cover the entire valley. The plant and bird life around the wetland is really something to experience.

What Thule has to say about living on the Estate |

Thule Mthembu has been living in her beautiful home in 55 Fish Eagle Crescent since March this year. Thule’s main motivation for buying here was the prospect of growth and the return on investment, taking into consideration the proximity of the Dube Trade Port and the entire Richardsbay corridor. On a personal level, Thule has a terrible phobia of cats, and the fact that cats are not allowed on the Estate was a major attraction.
Says Thule: "The level of security on the Estate is out of this world. I remember when I moved in, I had an alarm system installed. My building contractor still wanted to know why. My response was that I could not live without an alarm. I can honestly say now that there was and is no need for it - I use it simply because I have it." |
